Cuyahoga County will recycle yard signs this week.
Looking for a place to drop those election signs you've collected this fall? The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District is taking signs to recycle today through Nov. 16 at their Garfield Heights location. Drop off your plastic and cardboard signs with their metal stands between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 4750 East 131 St., Garfield Heights. The Port of Cleveland is assessing its options after Cuyahoga County rejected a $90 million tax levy.
Officials from the Port of Cleveland say they are assessing "the message from voters" after Cuyahoga County rejected a tax levy that would have helped improve the port's vital maritime infrastructure. County voters rejected the levy by a solid majority, with 285,301 voting against it, or about 57 percent, and 218,215 voting for it, or about 43 percent, according to unofficial results. In a letter by Port Chairman Robert Smith and CEO William Friedman, stressed the importance of the levy, which would have raised about $90 million over five years. President Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.
President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan. NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you." The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from President Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy. Voters in Ohio on Tuesday cast their ballot for Barack Obama, giving the president the state's 18 Electoral votes.
President Barack Obama won Ohio’s 18 electoral votes on Tuesday, defeating Republican Mitt Romney. In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for Barack Obama, and since the 1990s, has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race every time. Romney and Obama campaigned aggressively in Ohio. The state has typically been a battleground state in recent presidential elections. The economy was a key issue for many voters in the state, as was healthcare.

Ohio voters have until 7:30 p.m. to cast their ballots, but voting in other key swing states doesn't end until hours later. Exit polling could provide an early indication of whether President Barack Obama or Mitt Romney will win the White House. The earliest key state to watch are Virginia and Florida, where polls close at 7 p.m. Voting also ends at 7:30 p.m. in fellow swing state North Carolina. The majority of New Hampshire's polls close between 7 and 8 p.m. At 8 p.m., the swing state of Pennsylvania closes its polls. It’s finally Election Day, but Ohio—especially Northeast Ohio—isn’t out of the spotlight yet. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns made a stop in (the exact same spot of) Cleveland earlier today. CNN reports that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s plane landed at the airport earlier today. Shortly before noon, the plane for his vice presidential candidate, Paul Ryan, also landed. So did Vice President Joe Biden’s plane. With all the recent campaign stops in the area, this isn't surprising.
