Police Blotter: Burglar Snags Cigarettes at Gas Station
A roundup of incident reports from the Hillcrest neighborhoods
A burglar used a cinder block to break a window in the front door of the True North gas station at Wilson Mills and SOM Center roads at 3:32 a.m. Dec. 19, police said. The suspect took an undetermined number of cigarette cartons. "They were probably taken for resale," said Sgt. Donald Smith of the Mayfield Village Police Department. "They sell them for about $1 a pack." Smith said this is the first such incident recently in Mayfield Village, but there have been similar break-ins elsewhere. No vehicle was seen and the suspect was the only person on surveillance video, police said.
