Forrest, who was shot with a gun and chained to a tree in November, was adopted and given a home in the Cleveland area.
A dog that was tied to a tree and shot in Forest Hill Park last year has found a home in Solon. PAWS, the animal rescue agency that took Forrest in after he was found by a dog walker the morning after the attack, posted the above video on Facebook of Forrest arriving at his new home. NewsNet5 reports that the dog was adopted by Robin Stone, who has three dogs already. Click here for their full story. Patch Local Editor Nikki Ferrell will meet Forrest and new mom Stone this week and post more soon. The man charged with the shooting, Raymone Clements, will be arraigned this Friday at 8:30 a.m.

The New Year brings changes to Critter Corner, but animal needs remain the same.
Critter Corner and its readers have made a difference in the last two years. We’ve laughed at silly photos, taken action to adopt, rescue and raise money for abandoned animals and learned how to help wild animals in our back yard. Although this is the last Critter Corner column there are still animals, both locally and globally, who need your attention. Keep up to date by checking these sites for tips, activities and animal issues . Local sites National Sites I will still be covering larger events and urgent animal issues through a blog on Patch. Stay in touch by checking / “liking” Patch or e-mailing me directly at katherinekpatch@aol.com Thanks for all your feedback and a pawsitive-can-do-attitude. Happy New Year to all two and four …

Local rescue groups and Pat O'Brien team up to find happy endings.
The showroom floor at Pat O'Brien's was full of holiday cheer as Marilyn's Voice, PAWS and NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue were joined by WELW, Santa and his merry elf. Their goal was to get animals rescued from puppy mills, hoarders, kill shelters and abusive situations into happy forever homes. It seems lots of holiday wishes will be coming true. Photos list MV for Marilyn's Voice or PAWS. For adoption information about animals currently in foster homes contact: There is nowhere like a real home for the holidays.

PAWS supporters lent their singing talents to raise funds in suicide karaoke contest.
The Mad Hatter and a Litter of Puppies were the leaders of the pack at Saturday’s suicide karaoke contest held downtown at Goodfellers. Amy Beichler, Executive Director of PAWS dressed as the Mad Hatter, kept spirits up as rumors of “Franken-storm,” the uninvited guest, were a topic of discussion. Executive Director of Geauga Humane Society Hope Bruenstein's costume spoke volumes- “Don’t Litter!” Fox8 News meteorologist Angelica Campos was also in attendance. People may have wanted to ask her about the upcoming weather, but her favorite topic was “Charlie, is the most beautiful puppy in the world- I adopted through PAWS”. Singing despite the rain, everyone had a great time raising money for needy animals. Stop in at PetSmart in Golden Gate…

Annual poker run is a favorite among people and pets.
If your idea of poker and dogs is black-light posters of a cigar-chomping bull dog and his buddies playing cards, then it's time to think again. PAWS, an organization started in 1976 to help animals, is on its fifth annual motorcycle poker run. This "animal lovin'-poker playin'" event is for two- and four-footed bikers who want to raise money to benefit animals fostered through PAWS, while having some fun riding through scenic roads in the area. Several Hillcrest residents regularly participate in PAWS events, including more traditional adoption programs through PetSmart in Golden Gate and events at the Polo Fields. The aims of PAWS are straightforward: "Our group is dedicated to the rescue of pets in Northeastern Ohio. Our mission is to …

Darling Josie, the little gray tabby, and brother Guy, the orange tabby, were found abandoned, scared and starving. When they first arrived at their foster mom's home, they were scared to death - spitting and hissing and untouchable. Now, they are well adjusted, curious, happy little kittens. Josie and Guy just love to cuddle and snuggle. Still a teeny bit timid, they are improving every day. Josie is the more outgoing of the two siblings; Guy relies on his sister to protect him. They would love to be adopted together. Do you have room in your heart and home for two? If you're interested in Josie and Guy or any other PAWS pets, contact PAWS at 440-442-PAWS or visit www.pawsohio.org.

47 happy tales and counting
Part one of a two-part series The annual PAWS-4-A-Cause Adopt-a-thon filled the polo fields and made a difference in the lives of 47 dogs who found forever homes. There were activities for all breeds and types of dogs. Some "volunteered" for the biscuit tasting while others acted as spokes "people" against puppy mills. There were therapy dogs and K-9 units. People came to have fun with their pets or look for a chance to give a forever home to a luck dog or cat. Channel 8's Dick Goddard emceed the costume contest while the pups cavorted in the green grass. Although dogs and cats made up the majority of the animals there were skunks and ferrets too. Look at the captions under each photo for more information about the rescue group and …
