Incidents reported from April 22 to April 26: Empty bottles: A resident near Lander and Maplewood roads called Mayfield Heights Police on April 22 after finding empty alcohol bottles in his side yard. The resident said that a few times a week he finds a few empty wine bottles in his side yard on the Maplewood side of his home. He requested the department's special attention because he has seen the bottles repeatedly in recent weeks. One of the man's neighbors told him he had experienced the same problem. Police vowed to check into the matter. The Old Navy store at Eastgate was at capacity at 1:17 a.m. Nov. 25 and employees were not letting in additional customers, who were getting impatient. Police talked to the people outside and told them to calm down and follow instructions of the employees. A woman refused to go to the back of the line at 12:07 a.m. Nov. 25 at Best Buy and police escorted her off of the property. A caller at 11:54 p.m. Nov. 25 said he was robbed at gunpoint at Papa John's Pizza on Mayfield Road. The suspect was described at a black man weighing 200 pounds and wearing a ski mask. The caller told police there might had been an additional suspect. He didn't know if they left on foot or in a car. Police were unable to find a suspect. A Painesville woman called …

The Hillcrest Patch area is home to several of the national chains that participate in Black Friday sales. Scheduled store hours are: Old Navy The Eastgate shopping center Old Navy store at 1425 SOM Center Rd. will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Doors open again at midnight to start the Black Friday sale. Best Buy Best Buy on Golden Gate Boulevard will open its doors at midnight Thanksgiving night, with tickets for doorbusters passed out two hours prior to the opening. Kohl's Kohl's department store will open at midnight, with more than 500 early bird specials running through 1 p.m. on Friday. Store moved from location at Golden Gate.
Old Navy will open its new store to the public at 6 p.m. Friday in the Eastgate shopping center at SOM Center and Mayfield roads in Mayfield Heights. The Golden Gate location, which had been one of the chain's first 50 stores when it opened 16 years ago, closed on Tuesday. Store manager Aldona Johansonas said the new store has a more open floor plan that will make it easier for shoppers to find items. "It's a redesigned store to make it easier for customers to shop," she said. Many Old Navy stores nationally are being redesigned and retooled and special "Grand Reveal Celebrations" are being scheduled to launch openings of these stores.
