Hawken Girls Win 15th Straight State Swimming Title
The lady Hawks broke records and finished first in four events
State championships are clearly the standard for Hawken's swimming program. The girls team won its 15th consecutive state championship, its 23rd in Hawken School history. According to an OHSAA report from the tournament, senior Carrie Bencic paced the Hawks with a new state record in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:48.22 time. She won back-to-back titles in that event as well as the 500 yard freestyle. Carrie was also on Hawken's championship 200 yard freestyle relay team, which set a new state record time of 1:34.99. Seniors Sarah Koucheki, Marissa Cominelli and Caroline Vexler were also on that team.
