Evolution finished just nine points behind the champions from Tallmadge and Field
Evolution, the rock band comprised of Mayfield High School students, was nearly named champions of the 2013 Tri-C High School Rock Off. The band of five claimed second place in the "Final Exam" of the Cleveland-area competition, missing the championship by just nine points, according to a Plain Dealer report. Noize from the Basement, with students from Field and Tallmadge, won first place and a $1,000 prize. Evolution received $250, and a $100 donation to the Mayfield High School band fund. "Thanks to all who came to support us tonight, it was an amazing show," a member wrote on the band's Facebook page. "This ride wouldn't have been the same without all of you." It's already "Final Exam" time for a few students at area schools. Evolution, a band comprised of five Mayfield High School students, is among those performing Saturday at the 2013 Tri-C High School Rock Off Final Exam. The 17th edition of the annual event begins at 4 p.m. downtown at House of Blues. The Rock Off schedule shows that Evolution will be the last act to perform at 10:10 p.m., just before the winners are announced. Evolution is one of 18 bands to make the Final Exam competition. The Rock Off began about a month ago with 63 bands of various genres. Evolution consists of: Vittorio Valletta (Lead Vocal, Rhythm guitar); Jonathan Averbook (Lead Guitar); Brandon Midolo (Drums); Cristina DiFranco (Piano); and Roberto Valletta (Bass). …
