Police Blotter: A Worried Grandmother and Road Rage

Information supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department.

A grandmother from Euclid called Mayfield Heights Police after midnight Friday with concerns about her apparently suicidal 14-year-old granddaughter. The girl had called to say that she would ingest "a bunch of pills" to kill herself if she had to continue staying with her mother at an apartment on Marsol Road. Old Navy Opening at Eastgate on Friday

Store moved from location at Golden Gate.

Old Navy will open its new store to the public at 6 p.m. Friday in the Eastgate shopping center at SOM Center and Mayfield roads in Mayfield Heights. The Golden Gate location, which had been one of the chain's first 50 stores when it opened 16 years ago, closed on Tuesday. Store manager Aldona Johansonas said the new store has a more open floor plan that will make it easier for shoppers to find items. "It's a redesigned store to make it easier for customers to shop," she said. Many Old Navy stores nationally are being redesigned and retooled and special "Grand Reveal Celebrations" are being scheduled to launch openings of these stores. The Grand Reveal Celebration for the Eastgate store will be on Saturday and Sunday. Johansonas said there…

Ulta Beauty to Occupy Former Circuit City Space at Eastgate

Will take up about half of former electronics store

Ulta Beauty, a national chain of stores selling cosmetics and beauty items, will be going into part of the space left vacant by the closing of Circuit City at Eastgate shopping center. Crews are working on renovations in preparation of the new store. "They'll be going into about half of the space, so there's still space available," Mayfield Heights Building Director Thomas Jamieson said. He added that the store will include a hair salon. Ulta Beauty has 394 stores in 40 states. The nearest locations are in Mentor and Strongsville.
