Mayfield Village Cruises Into Fun for All Ages

Horsepower and hula hoops - it's back to the '50s in Mayfield Village's annual cruise

People may have gotten their kicks on Route 66, but SOM Center and Wilson Mills was the place to be Saturday evening. Cars, food, bands, people having fun... and more cars was the theme. The cruise-in was the brainchild of Jeff Shibley of Yours Truly and the mayor of Mayfield Village in 1989. Shibley says he remembers how they sat down in one of the booths and talked about an activity that would bring people to the community. The first cruise was born and has been a  success ever since. This year the weather was perfect as the thousands of people revisited the 50's themed night. For more car fun nearby visit Willoughby's classic car cruise-in June 16 or make a trip with other Hillcrest aficionados to Good Guys in Columbus July 6-8th.

Rich Tidy, store manager of Car Parts Warehouse on Mayfield Road, is a source for individuals and repair shops. He said that for them to get you the right parts you need to know your car. “It's important, you depend on your car.” Since many of us have trouble remembering all the letters, numbers and options, he suggested jotting down all pertinent information. However, the best time to start is before you are in a bind. A new folder for the new year …
