Renacci, Mandel Accepted Thousands from NRA in 2012 Campaign Contributions

Open Secrets published a list of recipients of National Rifle Association campaign contributions that also includes Steven LaTourette, John Boehner.

Ohio Republicans Josh Mandel and Jim Renacci accepted thousands in 2012 campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.  The NRA doled out more than $750,000 in campaign contributions in 2012, according to the Center, a research organization that tracks money in politics and how it affects elections and policies and shares the information on OpenSecrets.org. The center got its data from the Federal Election Commission.  In the top five for 2012 were Ohio Treasurer Mandel, who accepted $9,450, and U.S. Rep. Renacci, who accepted $9,900, according to the report. Mandel made an unsuccessful bid to challenge incumbent Sherrod Brown for U.S. Senate this year.  Fifteen Ohio lawmakers…

Mayfield-Hillcrest area residents made 255 presidential campaign contributions by late summer. Like the previous update, Gates Mills residents provided most of the donations during this campaign season. Ninety-eight of the 152 contributions listed for that city went to Mitt Romeny's campaign. Mayfield Heights residents made 47 contributions to President Barack Obama's campaign compared to 13 for Romney. In Highland Heights, Mark Lilien, an executive at Things Remembered, boosted Obama's campaign by $5,000 with two donations. Contractor Nacy A. Panzica did the same for Romney's fund. Nearly 200 Mayfield-Hillcrest area residents contributed to presidential candidates in this election cycle, with the majority coming from Gates Mills Village. Public records show that most of the 110 Gates Mills contributions went to the Romney campaign. Entrepreneur Michael R. Shaughnessy donated the largest amount — two contributions totaling $9,000. In Mayfield Heights, 37 of 45 contributions went to President Barack Obama's campaign. Still, the largest in that city went to Romney — $2,500 by both Moreland Management Co. investor Richard A.
