Lynch Announces Passage of Economic Development Legislation

Bill reforms Ohio Department of Development.

State Rep. Matt Lynch, R-98, of Bainbridge supported a bill to spur long-term economic development in Ohio. House Bill 489, which passed by a 91-5 vote and was forwarded to the Ohio Senate for further consideration, completes a transition from the Ohio Department of Development to the Ohio Development Services Agency. The bill clarifies contracts between OSDA and JobsOhio and allows the nonprofit JobsOhio to administer loans and tax credits to expand businesses. "HB 489 continues the legislature's efforts to revitalize Ohio's economy and grow jobs," Lynch said. Matt Lynch Appointed to Represent Ohio 98th House District

Primary election winner replaces temporary appointee.

Matt Lynch of Bainbridge has been appointed to the Ohio House 98th District seat. The announcement was made by Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder, who said Lynch would be a great addition. "He had a proven track record at the local level of cutting taxes and limiting government spending. Lynch's vision will certainly be an asset in the House as we continue our mission to make government more efficient and restore fairness to Ohio taxpayers," Batchelder said. Lynch had practiced law for more than 30 years with his family law firm and was elected to the Bainbridge Township Board of Trustees in 2007. Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder announced that Geauga County Assistant Prosecutor Mary Brigid Matheney has been appointed to the 98th Ohio House District seat, which was vacated when Richard Hollington became mayor of Hunting Valley. "The House Republican Caucus is delighted that Mrs. Matheney will be the newest member of the Ohio House," Batchelder said. "She has a true passion for public service and has deep roots in her community that will serve the residents of the 98th House District well. I look forward to working with her during this interim period." She will serve until sometime in March, when the winner of the 76th District Republican primary will be appointed to the position. When boundaries change in 2013, the …

Primary to Decide Appointment to Ohio 98th House District

Seat vacated when Richard Hollington became mayor of Hunting Valley.

Rather than appoint someone to the Ohio 98th House District seat now, Republicans plan to wait for the outcome of the March 6 primary to decide who gets the appointment. The 98th district includes all of Geauga County as well as Gates Mills, Highland Heights, Mayfield Village and portions of Mayfield Heights. "Given the fact that multiple Republican candidates have filed for these offices prior to the March primary, voting for which begins in less than two weeks, we feel it would be most prudent given this timeline for the residents of the 87th and 98th districts to decide who their representatives will be," Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder said. Since district boundaries will change in 2013, the 76th District race will …
