Highland Heights Commission on Aging Hosts Holiday Event

Seniors enjoy food, music, prizes and cards.

seniors celebrated the holiday season at the annual Commission on Aging Holiday Get Together at the community center.

Mary Velotta, the city's senior liaison and longtime employee, said the event's been held as long as she's been with the city.

"This is the Commission on Aging's big event. We also have a picnic and health fair," she said. Velotta said. The holiday party gives everyone, especially widows and widowers, a chance to gather and celebrate.

"They come and have fellowship and enjoy one another's company," she said.

In addition to lunch from , guests were treated to entertainment by Italian singer Carmelina. Commission on Aging Chairman Emil Lucarelli served as master of ceremonies and Mayor Scott Coleman addressed the audience.

There also were door prizes donated by city officials and others and a card party.
