'Dancing Under the Stars' Event Takes Place at The Grove This Weekend

Dancing Under the Stars is the first official event at the green space near Parkview Pool.

The first taste of programming at The Grove in Mayfield Village arrives this weekend with a "Dancing Under the Stars" event.

The Grove is located at 425 N. Commons Blvd., just outside Parkview Pool.

While Mayfield Village has long-term plans to turn The Grove's three acres of green space into a community amphitheater, the first three events will be feature a blend of yoga, dance and history.

Officials have planned four activities for the space:

  • Dancing Under the Stars - 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 24 - people will be invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and enjoy music and dancing.
  • The Dance Stop - 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday Aug. 25 - performances by local youth and adult dance groups.
  • Outdoor Yoga - 8 to 11 a.m., Sept. 7 - instructors from Cleveland Yoga will get area residents fit with a large session.
  • Lincoln at The Grove - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 22 - an Abraham Lincoln impersonator from the Cleveland Civil War Roundtable will visit Mayfield Village for an entertaining, presidential presentation, along with an appearance by President Ulysses S. Grant.
Full programming is expected in 2014. The cost for Phase I infrastructure of The Grove is about $100,000. That will include earthwork and drainage; asphalt walkways and extensive electrical work. By late 2014, the village will install more infrastructure, including a stage,

As the village's Grove Committee analyzes results from a survey that asked residents what they'd like to see at the space, we want to know what would interest you.

What kind of uses or events do you envision for The Grove? Let us know in the comments.
