1. School Opens: Mayfield City Schools and Hawken School begin classes for the 2012-2013 school year on Tuesday. Gilmour Academy begins its first classes today.
2. Football Season Begins: Mayfield at Nordonia, 7 p.m., Friday; Western Reserve Academy at Hawken, 7 p.m., Friday; Beachwood at Gilmour Academy, 2 p.m., Saturday.
3. Mayfield Heights Special City Council Meeting, Monday, 5:30 p.m.: City meets for the first time since June 25. Several Board of Zoning Appeals items are on the agenda.
4. Mayfield Village Council Meeting, Monday, 8 p.m.: The Council meeting will be preceded by a scheduled Finance meeting at 7:30 p.m.
5. Family Fun Night, Sunday, 6-8 p.m.: The final Family Fun Night kicks off at the Highland Heights Community Pool on Aug. 26 with games, prizes and a DJ Booth.
