Princeton-Bound Hawken Runner Names WEWS Athlete of the Week

Our partners at WEWS News Channel 5 named Ally Markovich their student athlete of the week.

Ally Markovich of Hawken School is quite a runner for the Hawks, and our partners at WEWS News Channel 5 has named her student athlete of the week.

She was a state qualifier in the 1,600 meters both her freshman and sophomore years, and a state champion in the 3,200 meters her junior year.

She's a regional qualifier in four events: the 1,600, 3,200, 800 meters and the 4 x 800 relay. She also holds the team record in the 1,600 and 3,200.

"She's been a large contributor to the success of Hawken track and field in these last years. She's been a role model for her team mates. A role model for us as coaches  and challenge us as coaches to become the best as we could be as well," said head track and cross country coach Christopher Farroni.

Ally is also outstanding in the classroom as a member of Cum Laude Society, National Merit Finalist and a peer tutor. Her education is just as important as track and cross country.

"I'm going to be running for the rest of my life, but education is really going to be the most vital for the rest of my life," said Ally.

Ally will be attending Princeton next year.
