Mayfield Improves to 2-2, Knocks Off Brush

The game was delayed by nearly two hours due to weather.

The Mayfield Wildcats had to fight through a delayed game and a Brush team that just wouldn't go away in order to get a second victory.

Weather delayed the game in the third quarter, but Mayfield came back to win the game 43-33 once play resumed close to midnight, according to a report from Cleveland.com. Brush had come back from a 30-14 halftime deficit. Sophomore quarterback Mario Monastero helped the team secure the victory with a 57-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Ryan Bailey after he threw three interceptions.

“It just shows what the kids are made of,” coach Larry Pinto told Cleveland.com. “We were done. We were beat. And they found a way to make one more play than they did.”

Mayfield running backs Anthony Canganelli and Andy Isabella combined for 215 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Isabella also caught a 56-yard touchdown from Monastero.

Mayfield travels to Elyria next week.
