Hawken's Ally Markovich Wins State Track & Field Title

The senior won the gold in the 1600 meter run and finished second in the 3200 meter run.

A Hawken student ended her track and field career with a state title in one event and second place in another at the Division III tournament in Columbus.

Senior Ally Markovich won the gold in the 1600 meter run this past weekend with a time of 4:57.88, according to results from the OHSAA's Baum's Page.

Ally nearly defended her state championship in the 3200 meter run by finishing second with a time of 10:54.80. She helped power Hawken to a sixth-place overall finish in the girls rankings, tied with six other schools.

"I'm pretty pleased with the finishes," Markovich told the Sun News at the tournament. "I ran really good times in both so I'm really happy. I couldn't have asked for more."

Ally will attend Princeton University this fall and plans to compete in cross country and track as a walk-on.
