Gilmour Wins Boys 4x800 State Title at Track & Field Tournament

Gilmour and Mayfield had several students make the podium in various events at this weekend's tournament.

Students from Mayfield-Hillcrest area schools snagged podium spots for a few events at this weekend's State Track and Field tournament at The Ohio State University.

Gilmour Academy was a highlight, as the school's 4x800 team won the Division III gold medal with a time of 7:58.25.

Here are the top finishers from the area, according to OHSAA's Baum's Page:

Gilmour

  • Division III Boys 4x800 team (junior Paul-Henry Schoenhagen, junior Alexander Ulatowski, senior Charles Hoge and junior Alexander Clapacs), first place.
  • Alexander Clapacs, junior, Division III Boys 800 Meter Run, third place.
  • Alexis Anton, senior, Division III Girls 800 Meter Run, third place.
  • Division III Girls 4x400 team (senior Briah Owens, senior Meghan Pryatel, freshman Brook Zedar and senior Alexis Anton), fourth place.
  • Division III Girls 4x800 team (sophomore Caitlin Whetstone, freshman Hannah Markel, junior Halle Markel and senior Alexis Anton), sixth place. 
  • Thomas Hollis, senior, Division III Boys High Jump, seventh place.
  • Halle Markel, junior, Division III Girls 3200 Meter Run, seventh place.

Mayfield

  • Caleb Mellon, senior, Division I Boys 800 Meter Relay, seventh place
Gilmour's boys finished 13th in the Division III overall school rankings. The girls took 14th in their rankings.

Mayfield boys finished 49th in the Division I overall rankings.
