Gilmour Academy Athlete Named Among Nation's Best

Polak makes Prepvolleyball.com list of top freshmen.

Setter Megan Polak of Gilmour Academy's varsity volleyball team made FROSH 59, the Prepvolleyball.com list of top freshmen in the country.

Polak registered 894 assists for Gilmour's state runner-up team, which had a 26-3 record.

"I have seen a lot of setters in my 22 years of coaching and she is, by far, the best freshman setter I have ever seen," said Gilmour first-year head coach Kelly Coughlin, "At nearly 5-11, she is close to elbows over the net when she blocks and is very core-strong, winning almost every joust she is involved with."

A resident of Kirtland, Polak was the only Ohio player named among the top 59. Four other Ohio residents received highest honorable mention – Allison Baird of North Royalton, Maddie Bazelak of Archbishop Alter,  Jenna Holly of Upper Sandusky and Katie Puisis of Mason.

To be considered for the list, student-athletes must be varsity starters as freshmen.
