WATCH: St. Francis Assisi First-Graders Take Part in Hillcrest Teddy Bear Clinic
Event sought to decrease hospital fears in young students.
St. Francis Assisi students in kindergarten and first grade played doctor for a day.
Dozens of them took a field trip Wednesday to Hillcrest Hospital in order to perform surgery on stuff bears, dolphins and more. They toured emergency rooms and bandaged their "injured" animals.
"Hopefully we'll have some doctors and nurses after this," first-grade teacher Rita Fladung said.
