St. Paschal Baylon School and five of its teachers are winners of the  Governor's Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

The award is given by the Ohio Science Academy to schools who hosted a local science fair with 20 or more students, qualified one or more of those students for one of the Academy's 16 district science days and met other qualifications.

“We are proud of this accomplishment,” school principal Carol Jansky said in a news release. “Our teachers are committed to preparing students for the future. Likewise, our students also apply themselves to succeed.”

Eleanor Harris, Holly Herald, Iryna Kulick, Tara Limestoll and Kristen Polantz are the award-winning teachers. The school hosted its science fair in January.

Students participated in fairs all over the state, including one at COSI in Columbus, the University of Akron and at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
