Plain Dealer: Gilmour Academy Falls in Final of Snow Days Hockey Tournament

Mayfield High struggles with inexperienced lineup.

St. Ignatius, which beat 7-2 earlier in the tournament, won the Snow Days Hockey championship with a 3-0 victory in the title game of the Cleveland Division.

Gilmour started the tournament on Friday with a 4-0 win against New Trier Blue and followed that with a 2-1 overtime win Saturday over Bethel Park High School. The round robin competition finished up with the loss to St. Ignatius.

Playing in the Indians Division, the Wildcats opened up the tournament with a 6-1 loss to Solon, followed by a 9-2 defeat at the hands of Cleveland Heights and a 4-2 loss to Chagrin Falls. The team, which was 26-5-2 last year, lost several top players to graduation and has a lineup featuring 11 underclassmen among the 17 players.
