Evolution, the rock band comprised of Mayfield High School students, was nearly named champions of the 2013 Tri-C High School Rock Off.
The band of five claimed second place in the "Final Exam" of the Cleveland-area competition, missing the championship by just nine points, according to a Plain Dealer report.
Noize from the Basement, with students from Field and Tallmadge, won first place and a $1,000 prize. Evolution received $250, and a $100 donation to the Mayfield High School band fund.
"Thanks to all who came to support us tonight, it was an amazing show," a member wrote on the band's Facebook page. "This ride wouldn't have been the same without all of you."
