Backyard composting seminar & rain barrel workshop

The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management District and the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District will be holding a combination backyard composting seminar and rain barrel workshop. The composting seminar is designed to teach county residents how to properly compost yard waste and food scraps in their backyards while offering low cost compost bins for sale. Backyard composting helps reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfills while creating a healthy soil amendment that can be used in gardens and landscapes.

Rain barrels help to combat storm water pollution in your community and give you a fresh source of free water for plants. Workshop participants will construct a rain barrel to take home. A barrel, down spout diverter and all materials are included.

Registration is required. The following items will be available for purchase by cash or check only:

  • Wishing Well Composter - $50
  • Ultimate Dirt Machine Digester - $50
  • Sure-Close Compost Pail - $5
  • Rain Barrel - $60
  • Extra barrel without diverter - $20
