The American Religion

Something to think about.

In America we do have a Religion coursing through this great Country.  It is not a religion of self indulgence, which was the bases of the French Revolution.  It is the belief in God and that we are all govern by a higher power.  In America our Revolution was based in these ideals of freedom of Religion and the free enterprise system.  The founders of this great land came here for the right to worship God without being persecuted for not being part of the Catholic Church in Europe or the King’s Church in England.

The first people that came to America had with them a few things.  Some of what they had when they stepped off the boats were a Bible, a gun, self reliance and a contract with a company to produce a product.  Those settlers worked hard and for many months without any government supervision from across the Atlantic or from the different towns that popped up as more people came to America.

The founders of these settlements learned fast that if you did not have everyone working together the settlement would die.  The leaders and Pastors worked together to grow the settlements into a community and then into a city then into colonies and through the hard work and time into a Free State joined to other States by a Constitution.

They built the churches for worship and they used the churches as a place to hold schools and government meetings.  For years God and government worked together in this country and there was no problem.  It was not a problem till a few elites tried to kill God and control the people through government.

When the framers came together to form this great Nation, the hand of God had moved over this land and its people for over 200 years.  The Great awakening
moved through the colonies and it was not just about the mind and body it was
also in the believe of God.   The people in the colonies were reading the writings of John Locke, Cicero and other people of history and of the day.  Besides these great minds they also heard some of the best men of God.  Men like Jonathan
Edwards and George Whitefield and many other great pastors.

The people of the time went to a church giving thanks to God for all that he had done in their lives and country.  The people watched as men became tyrants.  The people grew to understand that the problem with some in the church, politics and in business were that they hungered for power and not after the heart of God.  They came to understand that without God in the hearts of men and in the fabric of a nation that a Republic would never come to meet its full potential for the people and God.

That is why throughout the Colonies our founders, people like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams wrote Religious liberties and bill of rights for their colonies.  Pastors in the colonies put the fear of God into the King of England as they preached that your rights came from God and not man. These men of God went to battle with their Bibles and their guns.  They stood against tyranny and for a free nation under God with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These brave
Pastors became known as the black robe Regiment.  Without their help and faith this nation would not have been born.

Our forefathers did not start this new nation to keep God out of government; it was to keep the heart of man from controlling a state through a Church (denomination) or the government putting a litness test in place to keep people out of government that did not attend a government sanctioned church.  Just like
what was going on across the seas that their ancestors fled from so many years
before.  Our founders did understand that God had his divined hand over this land and that they were responsible for what God gave them.

We have lost some of the meanings of our ancestors and founders writings over the years.  We have taken so called experts’ ideals without looking for ourselves, thinks like our forefathers where ungodly or that they did not want a government controlled by God.  The founders were looking for a government that could coexist with God. Our founders knew that a government without God was a government that would be full of tyrants and that the only way to govern the heart of man was to have man know God and that man could govern himself through the knowledge of God and having a personal walk with him.  Our founders did not believe God was to be kept out of the main stream or everyday life.  They knew that without God in this country and in the government.   America would become like all the other countries around the globe.  They knew that a free people not controlled by government and the whims of man but in the hands of God would always be free.

We need as a nation to stop and ask ourselves are we in a stronger place now then we were when America was first founded?  Do we have more freedoms or is
the whim of man taking our God given rights away?  Do we have the right to say what we believe or are we told by a few that we have to be quiet?  If you look around the country today is there not people hurting and looking for something better?  Yes we all are looking for something better and we will not find it in our leaders or in our so called freedoms.  We will only find it when we turn back to God and ask him to lead and protect us.  The government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem (Ronald Reagan).
