Mayfield schools earns "excellent with distinction"

State report cards were released and the achieved the top honor of excellent with distinction for the third consecutive year. The district met all 26 state indicators and had its overall performance index score increased to 102.2 from 101.6 last year (on a scale of zero to 120).

Hospital hosts Cupcake Wars

About 800 cupcakes were sold at Cupcake Wars, a benefit for the American Heart Association. Celebrity judges picked winners in Professional, Specialty, Heart Healthy, Youth and Anything Goes categories.

New school year starts

Students were back in school Wednesday in the Mayfield City School District. Although construction continues at the middle and high schools, Superintendent Philip Price reported a smooth start to the school year.
