Nino Monaco Sworn In as Mayfield Heights Councilman

Newly appointed councilman takes office at special meeting

Newly appointed Councilman Nino Monaco was sworn in before a special meeting of City Council at 5 p.m. Monday.

Monaco took his oath of office before friends and family before serving for his first council meeting. Monaco had been a building inspector for the city from 1994 to 2005 and is building commissioner for the city of Pepper Pike.

The appointment is for the remainder of 2011. Monaco said he will run for election this fall to serve the final two years of the term. The vacancy was created by the death of David Sasak in June.
