Mayfield Heights to Use eBay & Other Sites for Online Auctions

City council approved legislation enabling the city to sell unwanted properties exceed $1,000 in value.

People scouring sites like eBay and Property Room may soon find Mayfield Heights properties listed amid the vehicles, collectibles and other items for sale.

City council passed legislation this month allowing officials to use three Internet auction websites to get rid of unwanted or obsolete property—eBay.com, PropertyRoom.com and GovDeals.com.

The legislation places few restrictions on what Mayfield Heights can sell, other than that the value should exceed $1,000. The items would all be available for bids for 14 days. Other than that, the terms of the auctions will be set forth by the websites.

The city agreed to provide public notice of any upcoming online auctions.
