Mayfield Heights KeyBank Location Denied Sign Change
City codes require signs on same building to use similar colors.
is rebranding itself by changing signs at 22 sites, but the SOM Center Road branch in will not be one of them.
Mayfield Heights City Council voted Monday to uphold the decision of the Board of Zoning Appeals, which denied a variance to KeyBank to allow for a sign that was not similar in color to existing signs on the building.
KeyBank's sign is red, white and black and the proposed sign would eliminate the black and be mostly red, with white letters. BZA members said the sign would not look like the one at Scrambler Marie's. Building Commissioner Tom Jamieson also added that the Scrambler Marie's sign is black to match what was there for KeyBank.

Major Harrison of Brilliant Electric Sign Co. appeal to council to reverse the BZA decision, stating that requiring similar colors at adjacent businesses presents a hardship.

Councilman Anthony DiCicco, a BZA member, said KeyBank can talk to Scrambler Marie's about coming up with signs that would work together.
"I believe they (Scrambler Marie's) haven't been approached yet," DiCicco said.
