Mayfield Heights Council to Interview Candidates for Vacancy
Session will start at 4 p.m. Wednesday
City Council members will interview candidates for the vacant council seat at 4 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 6154 Mayfield Road.
The vacancy was created by the death of Councilman David Sasak and council will appoint a person to serve for the remainder of 2011. The position will appear on the Nov. 8 general election ballot to decide the council representative for the final two years of the term.
Application deadline was July 8. Eight people applied for the position – Nino Monaco, Susan A. Sabetta, Jerry Rothenberg, Robert J. DeJohn, Benjamin M. Stocum, Gayle M. Teresi, Gene Trunzo and Martin J. Kelbel.
Monaco is building director for Pepper Pike and worked as a building inspector for Mayfield Heights from 1994 to 2005. He also founded the Mayfield Heights Challenge 5K Road Race.
Sabetta is manager of manicurists at Hairways Salon and is a licensed Realtor.
Rothenberg has served on the Zoning and Appeals Board since 1999 and the Mayor's Community Council since 2006. He is an architect with Jencen Architecture.
DeJohn is a former member of the Mayors Advisory Committee and parade co-chair of Mayfield Heights Fun Days. He is the senior funeral director and operations manager of DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Homes.
Stocum has been a member of the Mayor's Community Council since 2009 and participated in the 2011 cleanup. He is co-owner of Delta Diversified Inc., a professional recruiting firm.
Teresi was a member of council from 2002-2005 and is the assistant to the vice president of operations at Stark Enterprises.
Trunzo is controller for Mattress Matters Inc.
Kelbel has run for council and mayor in Mayfield Heights. He is a member of the Mayfield Heights Recreation and Parks Committee and a licensed Realtor with Jennie Chicola Realty Inc.
