Highland Heights Phone Outage Restored

The outage necessitated Richmond Heights to handle emergency calls last night.

The City of Highland Heights reported a strange phone service outage late Monday, but the issue has been resolved.

Marlene Cole, assistant to the Mayor Scott Coleman, said the city did not know the cause of the outage, but it impacted city hall and the police and fire departments. The outage necessitated nearby Richmond Heights to field all of Highland's 9-1-1 emergency calls Monday evening.

Cole said the outage also affected some households.

"It was fairly widespread, but we're not sure of the cause," she said.

The outage was first posted on the city's Facebook page. Service was restored nearly 24 hours before expectations.
