Name: Nancy W. Sogg

Occupation: Attorney – I have spent most of my adult life practicing law in healthcare, business, real estate and tax arenas. Most recently I served for 20 years as senior counsel of the Cleveland Clinic and general counsel of Meridia Health System, now a part of the Cleveland Clinic.

Education: Bachelor's and master's degrees, University of Michigan; Juris Doctor, Case Western Reserve University; Professional Fellows Certificate, Case Weatherhead School of Management

Office sought: Gates Mills Village Council

Statement: Gates Mills Village has been home for me and my husband, Will, for more than 15 years.

While serving at Meridia, I managed the legal department. One of my accomplishments affecting Gates Mills was the improvement of the Mayfield Road and SOM Center Road intersection. I was able to gain easements and funding to make this project happen. My coordination of the five adjoining property owners, ODOT and the City of Mayfield Heights to move and consolidate the driveways and improve traffic flow to the Mayfield and SOM intersection has greatly improved the main gateway to our community.

Personally, I have served on many nonprofit boards and been an officer in those organizations. During the 15 years I have spent in Gates Mills with my husband, I have actively served on village committees such as Beautification (2002-2003) and Finance and Budget (2003-2011). I have also been a member of several community organizations, including current activity in the
Gates Mills Garden Club as treasurer of Esquire’s Cottage, and the Community Club. I have been an active volunteer in numerous roles professionally, such as chair of the Health Law Section of the Greater Cleveland Bar Association and I served on the KeyBank Advisory Board.

Core values:
• I believe strongly in a results-oriented, transparent, and fiscally responsible village council.
• I believe that council and staff must be responsive to our residents by providing the high quality services they expect.
• I am adamant about maintaining the quality of life, safety and beauty of our wonderful village.
• I will be diligent in minimizing the financial burden on our residents.
• I will bring my experience as a collegial, proven leader and problem solver to council for the benefit of our residents.
