Barnes Is Only Candidate in Ohio House 12th District Primary

Mayfield Heights to be part of district in 2013.

Democrat John E. Barnes Jr. is running unopposed in the March 6 primary election for the 12th Ohio House District.

No Republicans have filed petitions to enter the race. The filing deadline for Independent candidates is March 5.

Barnes, a graduate of the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management, has served as the 12th District representative for the past two years. The 12th District has been comprised of Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Cleveland Wards 1 and 2 and part of Ward 3.

With the new district maps taking effect in January 2013, the communities in the 12th District will be , Pepper Pike, Orange, Highland Hills, Warrensville Heights, North Randall, Maple Heights, Bedford Heights and Bedford.

Mayfield Heights has been split between the 17th District, represented by Republican Marlene Anielski, and the 98th District, represented by Mary Brigid Matheney.
