5 Things You Need to Know This Week

Unity Days Festival, council vote on Deacon's rezoning and more

1. The Community Unity Days Festival starts Thursday and runs through Sunday at the city park. Hours are 5-11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 1-11 p.m. Saturday and 1-7 p.m. Sunday. There will be food, rides, entertainment, activities and more.

2. There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Heights Community Center, 5827 Highland Road.

3. Cleveland Metroparks Photography Club East will meet at 8 p.m. today at the North Chagrin Reservation Nature Center. The topic of the program will be the nature of paths and pathways.

4. Council will meet at 8 p.m. today at the Civic Center, 6622 Wilson Mills Road. Members are scheduled to vote on legislation that would revise the zoning map for an expansion of Deacon's Chrysler Jeep. If approved by council, the rezoning must also be approved by voters.

5. The Mayfield Heights Board of Zoning Appeals will have a special meeting at 7:30 tonight. On the agenda are a variance for an electronic ground sign at Mayfield Middle School and a variance for the color of a proposed sign at Menchie's on SOM Center Road.
