5 Things You Need to Know This Week

Blood drive, animal welfare lecture among events around Hillcrest area

1. There will be a from 1-6 p.m. today at the Ross DeJohn Community Center, 6306 Marsol Road, Mayfield Heights. Blood is in short supply and donations are needed. To schedule your appointment, log onto www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: Mayfieldhts. Walk-ins will be taken as schedule permits.

2. Mayfield Heights City Council will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. tonight. The agenda includes a resolution honoring retiring fire department Lt. Anthony Longano.

3. Rescue Village will have a lecture on animal welfare from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cuyahoga County Public Library Gates Mills Branch, 1491 Chagrin River Road. To register, click here.

4. Highland Heights City Council will have a committee of the whole meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The agenda includes the flood plain map and green space by city hall.

5. You can get tax questions answered at the library. A tax professional from H&R Block will be at the Cuyahoga County Public Library Mayfield Branch, 6080 Wilson Mills Road, Mayfield Village, at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Registration is required. To register, call the library at 440-473-0350.
