Walmart Theft & Teen Drinkers: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department.

Incidents reported June 15-16:

Cleveland sign:
A Mayfield Heights resident did a good dead for the City of Cleveland when she found a landmark sign and placed it in her car.

The woman was driving somewhere in Cleveland around 3:15 p.m. June 15 when she saw a sign for Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard half in the roadway, causing a potential traffic hazard. The woman retrieved it and brought it to the Mayfield Heights Police Department.

Mayfield Police advised Cleveland Police that the sign should be picked up from the station.

Attack at hospital: Security at Hillcrest Hospital called Mayfield Police at 4:38 a.m. June 15 to report that two security officers were assaulted earlier in the evening. No arrests were made in relation to the incident.

Repeat drinkers: A Bonnie Lane resident said he heard voices coming from behind his garage at 322 a.m. June 16. The man has reported people drinking near his yard before.

Police found two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old, though the call log does not indicate the teens were drinking. One mother said she did not know one of the children and her friend were out of the house. The teens were not related to or known by the homeowner.

Theft at Walmart: Police arrested a man on June 16 for trying to leave Walmart with an unspecified amount of merchandise.

According to police, Timothy Reed fled on foot around 6:30 p.m., and headed east in the lot, but dropped the merchandise. An officer arrested him for theft.

He was found guilty of misdemeanor theft and possession of criminal tools in Lyndhurst Municipal Court.
