Police Blotter: Truck Driver Smashes Into Pole

A truck struck a utility pole while attempting to make a turn onto Mayfield Road from Chagrin River Road at 8:40 a.m. on June 5, according to the Gates Mills Police Department. No one was injured in the crash. The male truck driver, 72, of Norwalk was charged with failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.
An officer stopped a vehicle on Mayfield Road for a registration violation at 8:08 a.m. on June 5. The male driver, 48, of Chardon, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The man’s vehicle was towed and he was charged with driving while under suspension, no operator’s license and failure to wear a seat belt.
An employee of the Gates Mills Library called to report a theft of a coin machine from the library at 10:46 a.m. on June 5. The incident is presently under investigation.

Police stopped a vehicle on Mayfield Road for a speeding violation at 10:01 a.m. on June 7. The female driver, 33, of Mayfield Heights, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. The driver was cited for excessive speed, driving while under suspension and no operator’s license.
