Police Blotter: Speeders Stopped on Wilson Mills Road

Police were out stopping speeders on Jan. 30 on Wilson Mills Road. Drivers were cited in a 35 mph zone for going 52, 50, 56, 52, 51, 50 and 53 mph. Four stops were made in the area of Stanwell, while others were at Brainard, Kennelwood and Millridge.

A fire was reported across from the Shell station at Bishop and Wilson Mills roads at 8:55 p.m. Jan. 30. Fire department officials checked and the fire, which was in a Ford Road back yard, was put out by the resident.

An erratic driver was reported speeding at 2:13 a.m. Jan. 30 in the express lanes on Interstate 271. The car spun out, but continued northbound at speeds up to 85 mph before Mayfield Village officers stopped the car.

A car went down the embankment off Interstate 271 southbound north of Highland Road at about 9:19 a.m. Jan. 29. The car was in a wooded area and the driver wanted to know what it would cost to get it out of the woods. A towing company was called and the woman's husband was on the way with money to pay for the tow.

A power outage was reported at 7:44 p.m. at Lander and Wilson Mills roads. CEI was notified and the power was restored at 9:01 p.m.
