Police Blotter: Shoplifter Got Away, But Empty-Handed

A security officer told police at 1:32 p.m. Jan. 9 that a shoplifter took cookware and rolled it out of the store in a shopping cart. He followed the suspect, who then went into Home Depot and claimed his car had broken down and asked to use a phone. The cookware, valued at $300, was recovered, but police were unable to find the suspect. He was described as a sweaty white man about 37 years old and thin, with blue jeans, a white T-shirt and dirty blond hair.

An employee called police at 9:03 a.m. Jan. 11 to report a warehouse had been broken into Jan. 7 on Alpha Drive. Nothing was taken.

Willoughby Hills police called at 10:06 a.m. Jan. 10 and wanted help finding a woman wanted for harassment and violation of a court order. They also said to be cautious because the woman had assaulted a police officer and was charged with felonious assault.

Two people were caught shoplifting at 8:33 p.m. Jan. 9 at Dick's sporting goods. The store did not want to prosecute and the boy and girl were released.

A caller from Golfview Lane at 10:18 a.m. Jan. 9 said she was receiving profanity and threats via email and texts from a former employee.
