Police Blotter: Overturned Cement Truck Shuts Down Part of Mayfield Road

Information supplied by the Gates Mills Police Department.

Police were called at 10:10 a.m. Oct. 6 about an overturned cement truck at Mayfield and Chagrin River roads. The truck's driver, a 46-year-old Bedford Heights man, was taken to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment. A portion of Mayfield Road was closed for cleanup and investigation of the accident scene and was reopened at 3:24 p.m. The truck driver was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle and reckless operation.

A 911 caller reported an accident at 11:09 a.m. Oct. 8 on Mayfield Road. There were no injuries in the two-car crash and a 69-year-old Novelty man was cited for not wearing a seat belt and failing to stop in an assured clear distance ahead.

A Carpenter Road resident reported hearing gunshots or fireworks at 6:23 p.m. Oct. 9. Officers checked the area, but didn't see anyone firing a gun or setting off fireworks.
