Police Blotter: New Thefts at Old Navy

Information supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department

Police caught up to shoplifters who took items at the on SOM Center Rd. the evening of July 17. The shoplifters fled in a white Dodge Stratus driven by a female with two other men. The car went north on SOM and then west on Ridgebury. The police were initially unable to locate them. The store’s security didn’t know exactly what was taken, but the shoplifters came in with empty bags and left with them full. About 20 minutes later, police located the car and caught up with them on I-271 going north. All three were told they are not allowed back at the store and would be arrested if they returned.

Father and son: A father reported his son was out of it and believed he might be on heroin in the early afternoon of July 16 on Commonwealth Ave. The father said his son tried to break into his safe where he kept his medications. The father requested his son be transported to the hospital, and authorities transported him to .

Bad accident: Two vehicles were involved in an accident sending one into a wall and the other into the grass at the Mayfield Rd. exit on I-271 during the morning of July 17. The southbound exit was shut down. Both signed releases and no medical transport was needed.  One of the vehicles involved was a Suzuki SUV.

Phone cases stolen: An employee at the AT&T support center store said four cases for phones were stolen on the afternoon of July 17. The cases collectively cost $1,000. The store said it had the person on video.

Unlocked car, stolen goods: A man claimed someone got into his car the night before and stole his work papers, a laptop computer, iPhone charger and Xanax medication on Golden Gate Blvd. the evening of July 17. The man said they left the car open.

Jewelry taken: A woman reported her jewelry and other items were stolen from her home on Chelmsford Rd. the morning of July 18.

Wandering woman: Aemployee reported a woman who is banned from the gas station locked herself in the restroom for more than an hour on the evening July 16. The woman refused to give her name and was possibly homeless. She was offered a ride to leave the city but refused. She said she was going to get on a bus and was at a stop in front of the . The woman walked into another restaurant. Officers watched as she eventually caught a bus heading westbound.
