Police Blotter: Neighbors Battling About Cat, Birds

Information supplied by the Mayfield Village Police Department.

A Sandalwood Drive woman said at 9:40 a.m. March 16 that her neighbor's cat was coming into her yard and scaring the birds away. The cat's owner was told she would be cited for an animal at large if another complaint was received. The woman called back after the neighbor yelled at her for calling police. The neighbor also threatened to call police about the original caller's birdfeeder encouraging a rodent problem in the area.

The Sandalwood Drive resident called again at 7:38 p.m. March 16 about the ongoing problem with neighbors and their cat. She was still upset because the neighbor let the cat out again. She also was concerned about the neighbor yelling at her.

A Hanover Road resident called at 12:22 a.m. March 16 about flooding in the street, which he thought might be due to a neighbor backfilling a creek. Service department employees were sent to the street and placed "high water" signs.

A man called March 14 and said he found a bicycle on his property two months ago and wrote an email stating he would bring it to the police station when he had a chance. Police said the bike had been involved in an accident with a car last August and its owner said it could be thrown out. Police said someone must have pulled it out of the trash and then dumped it on the resident's lawn.

A woman said she was walking her dog at 8:35 a.m. March 14 on SOM Center Road when she noticed a woman's vest hanging from a tree. Police checked the area, but did not see the vest.
