Police Blotter: Motorists Tried to Catch Dogs That Ran Across Highway

police relayed information from a call received at 7:28 p.m. May 9 about three cars stopped on Interstate 271 near White Road. The occupants of the cars were pointing at the woods and one of the cars was too close to the freeway and causing a hazard. One of the persons who pulled over told police that she saw two dogs run across the road and into the woods. Police said both dogs were returned to the owner at Maypine Farms.

An off-duty Cleveland Heights officer called at 9:32 p.m. May 9 to report a possible drunken driver heading south on Bishop Road. The car was stopped and the driver was eating an ice cream cone.

A contractor working at a Lander Road house called police at 10:40 a.m. May 9 after being threatened by a neighbor. The neighbor told police that mortar was hitting his house, but denied making threats.

Richmond Heights police called at 7:52 p.m. May 8 after getting a report about an injured deer in the street on Highland Road. The deer was in a yard near Highland Heights City Hall and its back legs had been broken. An officer put down the animal with one shot.

A man was lying with his shoes off in front of a Brainard Road building at 7:21 p.m. May 8. Police gave the man a ride.
