Police Blotter: Police Officer Told Resident About Break-In

Update: An item was updated to reflect that the man who talked to a Ranchland Drive resident was indeed a Mayfield Heights Police Department detective.

A Ranchland Drive woman said at 4:51 p.m. April 24 that an officer stopped by her house and asked if she had seen or heard anything the previous night because there was a break-in at the house behind her on Mayfield Ridge Road. Police initially said there weren't any Mayfield Heights officers going door-to-door and there was no break in reported in the area. However, there had been a break-in on Mayfield Ridge and the woman was told that the detective who visited was seeking followup information.

A Ranchland Drive woman called police at 10:09 p.m. April 24 and said an unknown person was entering her house and was removing lingerie. The woman said she would drop off a statement at the police station the next day and was told to keep her doors locked and her cameras on.

A woman was arrested on April 24 after trying to make a purchase using a stolen credit card at . Police also arrested another woman and a man who were with the suspect.

An employee at Speedway on Mayfield Road refused to sell cigarettes to a male who didn't have identification. He came back at 10:25 p.m., threw money on the counter and took cigarettes. Police were unable to find the suspect and said the money was enough to cover the cost of the cigarettes.

A disturbance was reported at 7:30 p.m. April 23 on Lander Road involving a domestic dispute in a Volvo. Police said the woman had high anxiety because they missed their exit. He told her to shut the car off, which she would not do. Police said both parties went willingly to Hillcrest Hospital and would probably get a hotel when they were released.

A Lander Road woman said a squirrel was running around in her basement at 5:52 a.m. April 21. She was told to open a door. An officer also was sent, but didn't see the animal. She said she would call later to have the animal warden provide assistance.

A Bonnie Lane woman called on April 21 and said her ex-husband intentionally caused an accident in Highland Heights and she has been getting voicemails and texts since it happened. She wanted special attention for the next week.
