Police Blotter: Insect Study Materials Left Behind

Information supplied by the Gates Mills Police Department

A caller at 11:30 a.m. June 7 said there were unidentified chemicals in a vacant Chagrin River Road house. Members of the Gates Mills police and fire departments, Mayfield Village Fire Department and the Chagrin Southeast Hazardous Materials Team responded and said the chemicals were related to the previous owner’s entomology pursuits.  The Gates Mills Building Department is working with the current property owner to ensure proper cleanup of the materials.

 A disturbance was reported at 6:48 p.m. June 10 on Chestnut Run. Officers said the argument was between a boy and his parents and the situation was calmed.

 A reckless driver was reported at 8:39 p.m. June 10 on Chagrin River Road by a caller who said he was run off the road by a speeding car. An officer was unable to find the suspect.

 An accident was reported at 12:45 a.m. June 12 on Gates Mills Boulevard. One of the two cars involved left the scene and the incident is under investigation.
