Police Blotter: Hitchhiker was Dropped Off by Willoughby Hills Police

Information supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department.

A man with a long beard and wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt was hitchhiking at 8:48 a.m. Jan. 17 on a Mayfield Road ramp to Interstate 271. Police said the man, who was dropped off there by Willoughby Hills police, was told to keep walking. But he was back on the ramp at 10:19 a.m. and told he would be arrested if he didn't leave there.

A SOM Center Road woman called at 3:08 p.m. Jan. 16 and said she had a few pieces of jewelry missing. She also found black shoe polish on the kitchen floor and suspected that was done by a maintenance worker so she couldn't get her safety deposit back because she wasn't renewing her lease. She said maintenance also has been shutting off her electricity. Police told her to call back next time her power was shut off.

A man said someone stole his iPod Touch that was left Jan. 15 in a sports utility vehicle parked outside Dunkin' Donuts on Mayfield Road.

A Chatham Way man called at 8:18 p.m. Jan. 13 because a former girlfriend was threatening to damage his property if he didn't come outside. The woman was told to leave or she would be arrested.
