Police Blotter: Friend Crashed, Abandoned Borrowed Car

A Fox Hollow Court woman called at 10:24 p.m. Feb. 7 and said she lent her car to a friend and didn't know the whereabouts of either. Police told the woman that the car had been involved in a four-car accident at St. Clair Avenue and East 110th Street in Cleveland. The friend had abandoned the car and took a bus.

A Marsol Road woman reported at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7 that someone tried to steal her car and she was missing the keyholder.

A Mayfield Road man called 911 at 7:08 p.m. Feb. 7 and said he was having a heart attack. When asked to describe his symptoms, the man said he's had heart attacks before and knows what they're like. He then said he would get someone else to help and hung up. Police said the man was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.

Someone tried to steal a 2005 Dodge Stratus on Marsol Road, a caller reported at 9:05 a.m. Feb. 7. A panel had been torn off of the passenger's side door and the ignition had been punched.

An Aldenham Drive resident complained at 2:15 p.m. Feb. 6 about a neighbor who was cooking on a grill. Smoke was coming into the caller's garage. Police said the neighbor wasn't doing anything wrong and advised the caller to close his garage door.

A MetroHealth Medical Center employee was called Feb. 5 by a patient on Golden Gate Boulevard who said he had trouble breathing due to smoking $2,500 worth of cocaine in 24 hours. Police said a small amount of cocaine was found in the room. The man was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.

A suspicious man walked outside a SOM Center Road restaurant at 11:20 a.m. Feb. 5 and was "screaming at the sky," according to a caller. Officers checked on the man, who was eating his meal when they arrived. He was advised not to go outside and scream at the sky.

An irate man was arguing about money with a gas station employee at 2:42 p.m. Feb. 4 on Mayfield Road. The man gave the clerk money for gas and then wanted some of the cash back so he could buy cigarettes.

A Suffield Road man said he was called Feb. 2 by a person demanding payment on an outstanding auto account. The man said he never heard of the company and had no outstanding debts. He wanted police to log the number because the caller was threatening.

A caller said his wife had her wallet stolen at 6:22 p.m. Feb. 2 while shopping at a SOM Center Road store. She was approached by two women who were asking her questions and noticed when she went to pay that her wallet was gone.

A citywide power outage was reported at 2:15 a.m. Feb. 2. The power outage stretched from Golden Gate to Crestwood, from Lander to Cedar, Landerbrook and Parkland. A transformer blew in Beachwood, causing most of the outages, police said.
