Police Blotter: Flooding and Animals Prompt Calls

Latest news from the Highland Heights Police Department

Basement flooding was reported at about 5 a.m. Feb. 28 at three residences on Highland Road and homes on Bishop and Radford roads. There was also a flooded ditch on Miner Road.

A caller said he was running at about 12:11 p.m. Feb. 27 on Miner Road when a car almost hit him. He said he yelled at the car and the driver turned around and followed him for a short while.

The manager of a Highland Road bar called at 2:16 a.m. Feb. 27 because a man was standing in the parking lot holding a beer and was not responding appropriately to questions. The man was taken for psychiatric treatment.

A Radford Road woman called at 1:07 p.m. Feb. 24 because an unknown animal was stuck between floorboards of her kitchen and laundry room. An animal control company was called and told to call the resident.

An accident was reported at 1:23 p.m. Feb. 24 at Wilson Mills and Bishop roads. A woman pulled into a gas station, but the other driver left the scene. Police tried to contact the other driver, but she no longer lives at the address on record. She was found in South Euclid and was cited for hit skip and time and attention.

A Williamsburg Drive resident reported an odd smell in the air that might be some sort of chemical at 7:54 p.m. Feb. 23. An officer said there was a skunk in the area.

Mayfield Heights police reported that a man in a blue Honda sports utility vehicle was garbage picking on West Miner Road and wanted him warned not to do so. Police caught up with him at Brainard Road and Ridgebury Boulevard and talked to him about the complaint.
