Police Blotter: Check Cashed, But Roof Work Wasn't Done

A Cleveland man came to the police station at 8:25 p.m. June 8 to file a theft report. He signed a blank check and gave it to someone to have roof work done. The person entered an amount of $4,250 and gave the man a receipt, but the work was never started. He said the woman he gave the check to was also the bank processor for his loan.
Several juveniles were yelling at 12:54 a.m. in the parking lot of Mayfield Road business. Police cleared the lot.
A woman said she was driving on SOM Center Road on June 8 and hit a pothole that blew out her tire. Police said the incident occurred on private property. She didn't want a report, but wanted the city aware that part of the curb was missing.
A disturbance was reported at 2:04 p.m. at Marsol Road apartment building, where a person was yelling on a balcony. Police talked the person, who agreed to keep the volume down.
A car crossed over the median and hit a wall on Interstate 271 northbound just before the Mayfield Road exit at 9:37 p.m. June 7. A flatbed tow truck was called for the Ford Expedition and the driver was taken to Hillcrest Hospital.
A Maplewood Road woman called police on June 7 because she received a threatening phone call from her sister. Police said the woman was not threatened – the sister, who lives in Boardman, told her she wasn't welcome there any longer.
