Police Blotter: Burglar Alarm Sounded at School

Officers responded to a burglar alarm at 11:12 a.m. Feb. 27 at Gates Mills Elementary School. Police said an unknown person made unauthorized entry into the building and the case is under investigation.

A 911 caller reported an accident at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 26 on Mayfield Road. A car veered off the road and hit a tree. No one was injured. The driver, a 48-year-old man from Jefferson, was cited for failure to reinstate his driver’s license, no driver's license and failure to display license plates on his car.

An accident was reported at 12:42 p.m. Feb. 27 on Chagrin River Road near Mayfield Road. There were no injuries in the two-car crash. A 21-year-old Chesterland man was cited for failing to stop in an assured clear distance ahead.
