Police Blotter: Be Careful What You Say

Information supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department

A X-ray technician overheard a woman in Emergency Room 12 say to two men with her “make sure the gun is loaded by the time I get back,” during the early morning of Aug. 24. Police were altered and arrived at the hospital to speak to the two men. Both were searched and no weapons were found on them. The woman was upset because the ER was so busy and she became impatient and upset that she had to wait so long for service. Police told her strongly not to make such comments like that again.

Busy at Walmart: had its share of theft activity this past week as a man was arrested for shoplifting the afternoon of Aug. 23. An employee attempted to make a theft but was caught and taken into custody the morning of Aug. 24. A little more than an hour later, a girl was taken into custody for shoplifting. Her mother had to come from downtown to pick her up.

DUI: A driver was cited for a DUI on Aug. 26. Driving a white Ford pickup truck heading westbound on Mayfield Rd. and approaching SOM Center Rd., the driver hit the curb four times, according to a witness. The caller followed the truck going northbound on SOM Center Rd. and into Coppertree Apartments. The truck turned around and exited the complex and went back up SOM Center Rd. Police stopped the car at .

Mother catches son: A mother found marijuana in her son’s room and called to speak to an officer on Aug. 26. The son was at the Iroquois Ave. home but was sleeping and unaware his mother had called police. The marijuana was confiscated. The boy was issued a juvenile citation for possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and theft.

Man found dead: A daughter found her father passed out and didn’t believe he was breathing at a Sunset Rd. residence the afternoon of Aug. 24. The fire department arrived to discover he had passed away.

Domestic violence: A woman said her boyfriend threw a chair at her at a Golden Gate Plaza restaurant the evening of Aug. 25. The man was arrested for domestic violence.

Car meets sign: A driver crashed into a stop sign near K&G Fashion Superstore, but no damage was done to the poll the afternoon of Aug. 23. The man arranged for a private tow.

Hit and run: A person driving a 2000 Chrysler hit another moving car in the parking lot of the afternoon of Aug. 23. An officer caught up to the driver on Genesse Ave. and returned them to the scene. Both people involved in the accident went to the station to file reports.

Get a permit: A solicitor operating without a permit was spotted on Fairlawn Blvd. on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. The man then headed towards Longridge Rd. An officer caught up with him there and discovered he was working with the Republican Party. He was told to get a permit.
